Scorpio, Friend or Foe?

Updated: Feb 25, 2022

The Sign of Scorpio

There are twelve zodiac signs in the zodiac wheel and from October 22nd, 2021, until November 21st, 2021, the sun will be in the sign Scorpio. Scorpio is the 8th sign, the second water sign and is a fixed zodiac sign of the zodiac wheel. Each zodiac sign is ruled by one or two planets and has a two-word phrase to describe their essence, Scorpio is “I Desire”. It is sometimes said that the zodiac sign you are born in, is the lesson your soul is on during your current incarnation in human form. It allows you to learn, grow and evolve from the energies of your zodiac sign, along with everything else going on in your birth chart. You can go around the zodiac wheel several times as a soul to get an enriched and well-rounded soul education. Each sign allows you to interact with different elements, aspects and lessons to learn to continue the up-leveling of your soul. Further in the article I will give explanations of the different aspects of the sign Scorpio.

The Element of Water

Water is an element that represents our emotions and intuition. Water is fluid and is healthiest when it is in a state of movement. This prevents the water from becoming stagnant or dirty. Planet Earth is 70% water just like our bodies. Water can be used for cleansing your aura, body and crystals. The element of water teaches us to go with the flow and to ride the waves versus trying to avoid them. It’s said that your pineal glad which produces DMT, which allows us to have visions during sleep and meditation is filled with water. It is important to keep your body hydrated because water helps your body to physically detox, it also helps the energy in your body to move throughout your body, so that the energy does not become stagnant.

What is a Fixed Zodiac Sign?

A fixed zodiac sign is a zodiac sign that falls in the middle of a season and has the desire to take a deeper dive into what they are currently experiencing in their life. They like to have a deeper understanding of what is going on around them and within them. Fixed signs are great at persevering, taking on projects that are sustainable and will have a reward at the end of finishing all their hard work. A fixed sign will work hard to get the job done, but because the nature of being a fixed sign they may have a hard time letting go of things that no longer serve their highest good. Fixed signs can start and finish many projects. Once they have finished a project, they often wonder why they put all their energy into a particular project that did not reap as many benefits as they hoped for. This is because of their nature to hold on too tightly to things that aren't working. Because of this, it is best for a fixed sign to put their energy towards something that is following their true calling. Scorpio as a fixed water sign can connect on a deeper level with imagination, intuition, emotions, dreams and sexuality.

Ruling planet

The ruling planet over a particular zodiac sign, came about when ancient astrologers decided to match up the energy of the planet with the energy of the zodiac sign. In classic astrology Mars was the ruling planet over Scorpio, however once Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were discovered, Pluto was assigned as Scorpios ruling planet. Some astrologers use either Pluto or Mars as the ruling planet for Scorpio and others use both planets. For this article, I will discuss the energies of both planets.

Mars

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, it has two moons, and it takes 687 days to orbit the sun. Mars relates to the God of War, Ares. What Mars energy brings to the table is being ready to take action, standing up for what you believe in and not letting others take advantage of you. Mars brings the energy of fortitude and courage. Mars helps you take action and get the job done. Mars will also help you feel confident and ambitious.

Pluto

Pluto is the last planet that we know of in our solar system, and it has one Moon named Chiron. Pluto was discovered in 1930 and it takes 248 earth years to orbit the sun. Pluto is associated with the God of the Underworld, Hades. Hades usher’s souls into their next journey after leaving their physical form. Because Pluto is the furthest planet from the sun it teaches us about setting boundaries with others and situations. Pluto teaches us how to move from one phase of our life to the next.

Characteristics of Scorpions

The zodiac sign Scorpio is represented by the Scorpion. There are about 2,000 different documented species of Scorpions on planet Earth. All Scorpions are venomous, but it is estimated that only 25 species of the 2,000 will actually cause a fatal sting. Also, a Scorpions tail is segmented into five parts. Five is a number that can represent the energy of our human body, change, freedom, adventure, sexuality, fast moving and fiery. Scorpions have many eyes; eight legs and they are an arachnid. They even have the ability to fluoresce under ultraviolet light, this gives them protection from the sun which was needed since scorpions have evolved from being a marine animal. Scorpions can live in the desert, rocky terrain and even in tropical forests. Scorpions tend to be nocturnal and secretive. You can learn more about them at this link Scorpion | San Diego Zoo Animals & Plants The reason I have told you a bit about the arachnid Scorpio is because a Zodiac sign has characteristics that are like the animal or thing they are represented by. Example: Aries is represented by the Ram, so anyone with Aries in their birth chart can have characteristics of the Ram. This logic applies to all Zodiac signs.

Scorpio as a Zodiac sign

I first started reading about astrology about 17 years ago and the pros and cons list for Scorpio always seemed to be very similar and erred on the, not so good side. Being a Scorpio myself I set out to get a deeper understanding of being a Scorpio because surely, we were not only made up of negative qualities. Through my discovery I found out that Scorpios have big personalities with a lot to offer. Sure, they can sting but, if a Scorpio truly harnessed its power in a healthy way, they could be incredible at anything they set their mind to. They have the energy of water, Mars, Pluto and the arachnid Scorpio combined, making them powerful and easily remembered. Scorpios are a water sign; they have the ability to take a deep dive into their emotions and the emotions of others. They are magnetic and have the ability to charm your socks off, among other items of clothes! They are strong and they make great leaders, teachers, healers, mediums, and detectives. They know the right time to strike and not a moment too soon or too late. They are in it to win it; they want to get the job done and make their dreams come true. They have tenacity, strength, vitality and a sexual allure that you can hardly resist. Scorpios tend to be very sexual and have no shame about their sexuality, they want the world to know that their prowess of sexual matters, is a big part of what makes them who they are.

Scorpio is a friend and they can have big personalities and are only sharp when provoked. However, their tail is ready to strike when it is needed, whether for creating something new or standing up for what they believe in. The combination of Mars and Pluto energy is what gives the energy of transformation, life, death and re-birth that Scorpio is very much associated with. This is the death of certain situations, habits, relationships, thoughts and feelings and even though this can feel sad, troublesome or too much to handle at times, these transformations are truly able to open you up to new opportunities, experiences and relationships. Scorpios shed its skin like a snake and as often as is necessary for their growth and new beginnings. It is truly liberating to release what is no longer serving your highest good and this is something Scorpio needs to learn and go with the flow with. Scorpio has a deep connection with their heart centers, which gives them a great connection with their intuition and the spirit realm. When you see a sign displaying the opposite characteristics to their positive characteristics, it is because they are out of balance and have some inner healing work to do. Remember we all have healing to do and lessons to learn. When the Sun is in Scorpio know that you are in the flow of emotional connections, getting things done and making your dreams come true. Regardless of what your sun sign is the energies being brought forward by Scorpio will effect each sign differently, Check out this video to find out what your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign is working on during the season of Scorpio.
